About Northrop and Johnson Spain

Northrop and Johnson Spain is now a well established member of the Northrop and Johnson family.

Located in Palma Mallorca, the company is owned and managed by Simon Turner and Joost Goverts.

"We are both very experienced brokers and have each been based in Mallorca, as brokers, for more than 19 years. We have worked together for the last six years and collectively have over 50 years experience in selling yachts - we make a formidable team.

Meet the Team

  • Joost Goverts
  • “I started working with Simon (at Berthon Spain) on February 1st 2005. In summer 2006 we were together appointed the Nautor's Swan agents for Spain and Portugal. I have been involved in different aspects of water sports since I was a kid. From small dinghy sailing to larger yachts and have logged 30,000 miles as an enthusiastic professional. I have sailing experience in Northern Europe, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Since 1988 I have lived in Mallorca and worked as a yacht broker. From 2002 until 2004 I was the coordinator for Swan sales in Spain (for Dahm International, the then Swan agents). I am fluent in Spanish, German, English and Dutch.”
  • Simon Turner
  • “I started my career as a Yacht Broker in 1980, (working for Berthon International in Lymington, England). In 1991, I moved to Palma de Mallorca to work (with Trevor Holloway, the then Nautor's Swan agent), specialising in the sale of pre-owned Nautor's Swan yachts. Since 1987 I have been a full Broker Member of the YBDSA / ABYA (the professional association in Britain for Yacht Brokers, Designers and Surveyors). In the past years I have been actively involved with general brokerage of other quality sail and power boats and thus gaining further experience not only of the Swan market, but also general brokerage. In 2008 we opened N&J Spain.”
  • Amanda Hibbitt
  • Amanda Hibbitt moved to Spain in 2003 to begin a career in tourism. She eventually transitioned into the yachting industry and has worked in various sectors, from receptionist to running the warranty and after sales department for a Palma-based yacht sales company. Amanda speaks German and Spanish.

    Amanda took a brief pause from work to spend time with her newborn son. She has rejoined the yachting industry at the end of 2015 as sales assistant in Palma and is delighted to be a part of the Northrop & Johnson team.
  • Natascha Weber
  • Natascha's first contact with luxury yachting came in 1996 when she began working at "Dahm International" in Palma de Mallorca and took on the challenge of creating the charter department. This became a great success.

    Some years later she joined "Koch Newton & Partners Spain" in the capacity of charter manager and retail charter broker, where she also took care of the office's marketing.

    Natascha stayed with the same team of people through the subsequent acquisitions of the office - first by Merrill Stevens and later by Fraser Yachts.

    In January 2014 Natascha was ready for a new challenge and moved to Northrop & Johnson's Spain office to develop the charter department.

    During all these years in the industry Natascha has regularly attended the major luxury yacht shows worldwide, such as Antigua, San Remo, Genoa, Düsseldorf, Monaco, Fort Lauderdale, and more - the best way to stay on top of market trends.

    She is an individual full member of the MYBA association since 1997. She is fluent in Spanish, English, German and Italian; conversational in Portuguese and basic spoken knowledge of Polish.
  • Jochen Brill
  • Jochen Brill is a seasoned yacht broker. He’s had a long and successful career in the yachting industry and has been involved in many transactions worldwide.

    He began working in the yachting industry at Belliure as an export manager.

    His career in brokerage started at Berthon-Schmidt brokerage in Palma, 1985.

    In 1995, Jochen became brokerage director at Dahm International. Later after a period that he spent at Koch Newton/Merrill Stevens in Palma, in 2006, he again joined the Dahm team.

    Jochen’s experience and vast knowledge of the industry has made him well known in the industry.

    He speaks five languages, including English, Spanish, German, Italian and French.

    Jochen joined Northrop and Johnson Spain in November 2015 and is a great addition to the global Northrop & Johnson team.
  • Stephan Kohl
  • After completing his academic education in civil engineering and architecture in Austria, Stephan Kohl began his career in sales and market development.

    In 2007, he entered the marine world with a job at an Italian shipyard. He later transitioned into his role as an independent broker.

    Stephan created a yacht sales company that spanned the Adriatic market and German-speaking areas of Europe.

    Stephan’s career then took him to Porto Montenegro where he opened a showroom for a franchise brand and organized that brand’s participation in the major European boat shows. Stephan most recently worked as a dealer and broker for three Italian brands under Engel & Volkers.

    Stephan is fluent in German, English and Italian and basic Spanish. He joined Northrop and Johnson Spain in July 2016.
